Release Blitz #review: The Goal by Elle Kennedy

Synopsis

She’s good at achieving her goals…

College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.

But the game just got a whole lot more complicated

Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.

Review

The Goal as the other books in Off-Campus series was a very enjoyable read.
We got a little taste of Tucker in previews books but in this particular installment we got to experience the southern gentleman full force. I simply adored him, he was so caring and loving towards Sabrina that he won my heart with every little thing he did to make her feel better, he understood her like no one else did, and their chemistry, even with Sabrina's trepidation, was hot and palpable. At the same time Mr. Tucker had a hidden delicious dirty side to him, that made him even more attractive to me.
To some Sabrina was just a stuck up girl who didn't have much time for new relationships of the friendship or romantic kind, she had two friends who were the extend of her little circle. But the truth is she was just a girl trying to get ahead in life, she wanted to make a better life for herself. A complex character when it came to the fight between her mind and her heart.
Their relationship develops slow, which I'm a fan of, I don't like it when the H and h get together right away and fall in love instantaneously, sometimes it makes it hard for me to believe the relationship.
Their dynamic is not an easy one, and when they get an unexpected surprise, would it bring them closer or with it be the one thing that ends their already complicated relationship?
I love this author's style of writing, she always pulls me into the story to the point it's hard for me to take a break from the story and the characters. Some things were brought back that were already in The Score (book 3) and even though I knew what was coming, it broke my heart all the same. Yes, there were some things that were said and seen in the preview book, but I found that there were necessary to understand this story as well.
I know this is the last book of this series but I'm looking forward to Fizzy's book somewhere along the way.
This is book 4 of a series and can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read the previous books so you're more familiar with the characters.
