Toxic started out slow for me, but I still found myself intrigued by the characters and storyline. Especially the heroine Phoebe who has lived a life immersed in wealth and privilege, although she's always been down to earth and willing to work hard to succeed. Phones finds herself fighting to save her family's company after her father has almost destroyed it. All the while trying to decide is the man she's engaged to, Dawson, is really who she wants to spend the rest of her life with.
Karr has a way of weaving a story in a story and introducing characters that will have you on the edge of your seat. And that's where Jeremy comes in. He is a part of Phoebe' s past, and comes from a different world and a different side of the tracks. He views people with Phoebe's financial status with disdain, but yet he himself can't deny the raw attraction and desire he feels for Phoebe.
Toxic switches between the present time and five years ago, is filled with secrets, betrayals, and passion. Although the storyline tends to flow slowly, it is worth the read.

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing.
