About Lyssa
Lyssa Layne is first, and foremost, the proud momma to her precious daughter, AR. In addition to working full-time and being a mommy to AR, she is also the wife to Matthew, an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a runner, blogger, and an infertility survivor.
Having watched one too many medical dramas and being inspired by author Rachelle Ayala, who introduced her to the world of indie writing, Lyssa decided to try her hand at writing a romance story. Her attempt turned into the Burning Lovesick series. You can find Lyssa’s own interests throughout her stories although all stories are fictional.
1. When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book? How long did it take you to write it?
After finding the world of indie writing in the fall of 2013, I decided to start writing. After gruesome months on a critique site, I finally decided my first book, Love is a Fire, was ready and I hit publish in May 2014.
2. What is the hardest part of writing for you?
The hardest part of writing is trying to not sound repetitious and finding time to write all the stories floating around in my head!!!! Oh and patience!!! Patience to finish, hear back from beta readers, my editor, for reviews, etc...
3. Of all the characters you've written who is your favorite/least favorite and why?
Favorite-Tate James from Fear of Striking Out. Gah, he is one sexy man who looks great in a pair of baseball pants! Not to mention, he's totally sweet and overprotective which always makes me weak in the knees. Grant Adamson from The Right Pitch would be a close second... it must be those baseball pants!
Least-Asher Tomko from Fear of Striking Out is just a horrible man, nothing more really needs to be said.
4. What has been the toughest criticism giving to you as an author? What has been the biggest compliment?
Criticism-When I told my family that I was going to publish a book, two of them said, "be ready for the reviews." It was really disheartening but I did it anyways. Sure, not every review is great but as long as one person enjoys my books then I'm a happy writer. The other tough criticism would be from my mother asking about the sex scenes and making a huge deal out of it. That alone is enough to want to crawl in a hole and never hit publish again!!!

5. What do you consider your best achievement to date? My wonderful Lovers of Lyssa Layne! I haven't won any awards or hit a bestselling list but the L.O.L.L. are my motivation and reason to keep pumping out books for them.
6. Give us five interesting/unusual facts about you....
1. I hate coffee (although most of my characters love it!).
2. My book Everybody's After Love is loosely based around my husband and me.
3. Mia's Reese's S'mores in Fear of Striking Out are the bomb!!! After you've had it once, it's seriously the only way to eat a s'more.
4. I love peanut butter!!!!!!!!!! If you want to know the way to my heart, make me a peanut butter pie.
5. When I was younger, I set a goal to visit all seven continents. I've visited three-North America, Europe, and Africa.
