Synopsis
When a McKinney brother falls in love, powerful emotion
and overwhelming desire are never far behind.
Two hearts locked away . . . Hannah Walker spends her
days coaching children through injury and trauma, one therapeutic horseback
ride at a time. She knows all too well how violence can change a child and
leave scars that never heal. It’s easy for her to relate to the kids; what
isn’t easy is the thought of facing her own harrowing past.
Millionaire playboy Stephen McKinney could use a little
coaching himself. Five years ago he encountered his most horrible nightmare—and
the nightmare won. No matter what he achieves, nothing can make up for that awful
night . . . or so he believes.
Both desperate for a second chance . . . Stephen is
used to getting what he wants. And he wants Hannah. So when she turns him down,
he’s intrigued. What he doesn’t know is that her secrets will lead him to a
place he never wanted to go again . . . to a side of himself he’s tried to
forget . . . a side that would scare Hannah away from ever loving him. Now his
only chance to win her trust is to bare his soul, risking everything he tried
so hard to protect.

Review
When I read the first book of this series I was hooked, my friend told me the book was good but that didn't really made justice to the beautiful story that Claudia had written. So when I heard that the second book was coming out I was excited to find out which one of the brothers was going to fall next.
Hanna Walker was the victim of a terrifying violent act at the tender age of 14 that left her with deep scars, not only emotional but physical ones. Horseback riding was the one thing that brought her back to life after the incident, and now she spends her days as a physical therapist for children with disabilities.
Her brothers are her saviors and her protectors, perhaps over protecting is more like it.
Stephen McKinney is sexy, enigmatic and very withdrawn from the people around him, including his sexual escapades. Five years ago tragedy struck and he hasn't been able to get over it, keeping even his loved ones at bay.
Hanna and Stephen first meet at the grocery store, when Hanna is in distress. Stephen asks her out and on a weak moment she says yet. Their encounters are a bit awkward at the beginning but for whatever reason Stephen can't get away from the innocent beauty that is Hanna.
But when Hanna's past comes back to hunt her, colliding with Stephens, will she be strong enough to fight it, will he be able to get over his loss and be the person Hanna needs?
This second book is definitely different from the first one. While the first one was sweet and this one pulls a bit more to your heartstrings, it has more angst and there's even a bit of violence involved.
I love the way this author develops her characters, giving them that human touch, making it easier for the reader to relate to them. Hanna is a true heroine. She's been through hell and back, and even though she still has her moments, she's strong, she's a fighter and her ability to love is intact even after what she went through. I liked the way Stephen starts changing, you can definitely see Hanna's influence in that change. His only fault, almost until the end, is that he's hung up to the past.
Claudia is an amazing storyteller and she will captivate you from beginning to end. I can't wait for the third installment of this series, I have no doubt it will be another beautiful tale.
Five worthy stars to this tale of survival.
