Lucy knows he doesn't remember her, but she's already in too deep.
Charlie knows the unwritten family rule: Mathews men never admit when they're broken.
Can they leave the past where it belongs and find a way to look beyond the orange moon?
Review
I loved the first book of this series, but this one is my favorite of the two.
The story starts with a heartbreaking moment in the life of both the main characters.
Lucy is doing her nurse's training, more because she feels like she has to become a nurse like the rest of the women in her family, than because it's what she wants to do in life. One night during training she's witness of one life's biggest tragedies, this left her traumatized and fighting depression. This is also the first time her life crosses paths with Charlie Mathews.
Due to the fateful night that changed his life and the life of his baby, Charlie is going through the motions in life, raising his little boy. He's not living, he's existing.
When their paths cross again Lucy knows who Charlie is but he doesn't remember her. Little by little they get to know each other and go from being friends to being lovers. But Lucy is keeping a secret from Charlie that she doesn't know he'll be able to forgive her for. Can this secret be the breaking point for this couple?
After a year an a half and after working at her cousin's coffee shop, Lucy realizes that her passion is cupcakes. She has the innate ability of creating delicious treats and they become the therapy that helps her get over her trauma, as well as her blooming relationship with Charlie.
Throughout the first part of the story you feel Charlie's pain and you see the subtle changes that Lucy's presence in his life cause. He's not completely over his heartache but her love has the healing powers he so much needed.
There was one character that rubbed me the wrong way all the way through and that was Lucy's best friend and roommate. While I understood her concerns, she was rude and almost heartless while talking to Lucy. Her so called 'advices' felt more like she was treating Lucy like a child than talking to her best friend.
I love the characters in Adrienne's books, they feel so real they could be anyone you know. The story in general is full of heartbreak, forgiveness, and beauty. It proves that life sometimes gives back you some of the things it took from you, via the people you least expect. Can't wait to see which of the Mathews' rowdy boys will be next to fall.

Dylan Mathews grew up in a house that was always filled with good-looking guys. However, with four protective older brothers they never stood a chance.
Except for one.
Dylan knew she loved Ben McKenna from the first time she laid eyes on him. When he started sneaking in her room, she thought he felt the same way.
But just as their passion ignited, he left for college and never came back.
Until now.
Returning home after 5 years, Ben realizes Dylan has always been the one for him.
Can he win back her heart and finally find love under the orange moon?
