Blog Tour: Damaged Goods by Nicole Williams

The Outsider Chronicles, #2
(stand-alone)
New Adult/Adult Contemporary
Release: September 9, 2014

Synopsis
When Liv Bennett said good-bye to her sinkhole of a hometown, she planned to leave that chapter of her life behind forever. But forever turned out to only be three years.
After her addict of a mother up and disappears, Liv returns to what she considers her own personal hell smack in the middle of nowhere Nevada to take care of her two younger sisters, and she promptly reinstitutes the golden rule that got her through her first nineteen years of life without getting knocked up, roughed up, or messed up: don’t date the local boys and, god forbid, don’t fall in love with one of them.
It isn’t long before that golden rule is put to the test.
Will Goods grew up in the next trailer over, but the wild, careless boy who used to tear up the town with his three brothers has morphed into someone else so completely, he’s almost unrecognizable. The quiet, contemplative man who works on cars every night and takes care of his mentally ill mother every day is nothing like the local boys Liv grew up avoiding.
But when Liv considers suspending her golden rule just this once, she finds out something about Will that will change everything.
Will Goods isn’t who he used to be—he’s not even the man Liv thinks she’s gotten to know over the summer. He’s become someone else entirely.
He’s become . . .
Damaged Goods.

Review
I absolutely LOVED this book!
From the very beginning your heart goes out to the Liv, the female lead of this story. To say she grew up in a tough household is an understatement. Her mother was a poor excuse for a human being who cared more about drugs and men than her children.  The town where she grew up was a rundown community in the middle of nowhere Nevada, so when she graduates high school she leaves to go to college in California and never come back.
But like it usually happens in life, things change and the plans that we so carefully make can be overturn in a heartbeat. The same day that she finds out that her boyfriend of two years was cheating on her, Liv receives a call from her sisters back in her hometown that she can't ignore.
So she leaves her new life behind and goes back to Nevada to watch after her underage sisters. Back home she meets her neighbor, Will, the younger of four brothers who like her, came back to take care of family. They form some kind of a friendship, but that's the extend of their relationship because due to her upbringing Liv doesn't see herself really loving another human being...ever.
To support her sisters Liv does what she has to do, even though is not her ideal job. It's through that job that her relationship with her shy neighbor Will Goods takes an unexpected turn and the dynamics of their relationship changes.
This is the second book I read of Nicole and I love her style of writing, she engages the reader from page one and keeps the interest in the story with all the twists and turns she incorporates throughout.
I have to say though, that I never saw the twist of this story coming, I was surprised and touched. It was beautifully done. The secondary characters, Liv's sisters, were funny and loving towards their big sister. Jake ended up being almost like a father figure to Liv, their banter was endearing. Liv was a bit  cynical at times but with her upbringing I completely understood that side of her. And Will Goods was perfection. She wasn't an alpha, he was not the kind to be barking orders or using foul language, he was sweet, considerate and a true gentleman.
I highly recommend this book, I promise you won't be disappointed. Looking forward to the next book from this talented author.
