Blog Tour: The Clouds that Were by Addison Footit

Synopsis
Have you ever had a nightmare only to awake and find your life is worse than a nightmare?

A child conceived by mistake, born because there was no other option.

Your life is hell. You can't succeed, you can't be happy, you can't even be sad. You can't be anything.

I never thought I would make it to my eighteenth birthday, I figured I'd be dead by then. I just wanted to make my mother happy, and I always knew the only way to succeed at that was by ceasing to exist.

And then I met Chase. He saved me. From her, from myself, and in the end, from death.

My life was so dark and cloudy for so long, I never thought I would see the sun. But with Chase, they were merely clouds that were.

Review

It has been quite a while since I read a book that was about teenage love and problems, where there is actually a story to get involved with and no excessive sex scenes to get in the way of a heart wrenching story. Honestly this book tore me apart, in a gut wrenching way. This poor girl suffers some inhumane treatment by the one person who should love and worship her more than anyone. I promise you, if this woman was real I would gladly go toe to toe with her and show her how a true power addict can act. Believe that.
Our wonderful hero is a perfect young hero. Not alpha just wonderful. He stood by his words and meant every feeling he said or had in regards to his love.
Now, I agree with some other reviews that their relationship did take off fast but let's push their age away shall we. Did we not love that Christian and Anna fell for each other in a hurry? Did we not love that Gideon and Eva fell for each other quickly? Did we not love that Jesse went head over heals for his Ava quick as a speeding bullet and proved time and time again that he would do everything in his power to protect her and to prove to her how much he loved her? I am guessing that you answered yes to at least one of these questions. So if you had no problem with those relationships then it shouldn't be hard to understand why a girl that never received love fell quickly for a boy who only wanted to give love, and to maybe help someone out from making a huge mistake that there would be no coming back from. People, in all honesty, love knows no age group. Love is as real as the people who are feeling it. Rather it be a girl 16 and a boy 18 or a little gray haired Granny who is 88 and her new husband 93.
The meaning of this book really wasn't about the love between this couple, it was really about extending a hand to someone who was in trouble and taking the action to help them in all ways possible.
I cried over this book quite a bit. The heroines inner monologue, the note she wrote, the hero's inner monologue, and God the note he wrote. Half a box of Kleenex to get thru it.
Only thing I had a problem with was the ending.  I wasn't expecting that and left me wanting more.  I have a feeling though, that the second book will be a thousand times better.

Meet the Author

Hello I am Addison! I grew up in the great state of Wisconsin and am a Wisconsin girl through and through, although seriously, it's not a bubbler, it's a water fountain.

Anyway, I fought being a writer for 33 years before finally giving it to it, and now I can't imagine doing anything else.

I am a wife and a mother to three kiddos! When I am not watching them play soccer, or baseball, or basketball, I enjoy photography, reading (of course) and I am learning to love landscaping.
