Blog Tour #giveaway #review: Gabe by Irish Winters

We are excited to release the 8th book in this serious!

Author Irish Winters brings us the In the Company of Sniper series for another gripping tale of honor, duty, and romance.

Alex Stewart is dead. Murdered.

While The TEAM struggles to deal with the blow they never saw coming, ex-Marine Gabe Cartwright is assigned to protect Alex’s widow, Kelsey. Already haunted by the fear that he let his boss die, he vows to protect her with his life. Nothing and no one will get in his way—until bossy Nurse Sullivan arrives to care for Kelsey. Sullivan is anti-gun, anti-dog, and seemingly anti-the whole male gender.

The last damned thing he needs...

It’s her way or the highway.

Shelby Sullivan is an admitted control freak. She loves her new client, Kelsey Stewart, and intends to help her in any way possible, but has no use for her bodyguards. Not even the semi-charming Agent Cartwright will interfere with the perfect performance of her duties—until she disregards his protection measures and leads Death straight back to Kelsey.

Gabe isn’t the only one who’s haunted…

Irish Winters is an award-winning author who dabbles in poetry, grandchildren, and rarely (as in extremely rarely) the kitchen. More prone to be outdoors than in, she grew up the quintessential tomboy on a farm in rural Wisconsin, spent her teenage years in the Pacific Northwest, but calls the Wasatch Mountains of Northern Utah home. For now.
The wife of one handsome husband and mother of three perfect sons, Irish divides her time between writing at home, and travelling the country with her man while – writing. (Seriously, what else?)
She believes in making every day count for something, and follows the wise admonition of her mother to, “Look out the window and see something!”

TEN things I would like to do before I die

Spend a month on the beach on a desert island while writing the perfect love story
Go skydiving
Visit Afghanistan. I’ve done so much research on this war torn country. It fascinates me.
Spend a year touring all 50 states
Take a class in astronomy
Live better today than I did yesterday
Learn a new language. Spanish, Gaelic or Chinese
Hire a cook (Yes. I hate to cook.)
Breathe deeper. Type faster.
Continue to thank God every single day for the amazing flow of inspiration He has blessed me with.

From the moment you start reading this new addition to the series, there is no doubt that this is a story that will take the reader on a wild ride.
The moment Alex is shot and Gabe tries, with all he has to save him, Gabe knows that he won't be the same. The dynamics of the TEAM start changing little by little even though Mark tries to keep it all under control, but there's not doubt that the death of their leader has changed each and every member one way or another. The most painful change is that of Alex's widow. My heart went out to Kelsey, I wanted to hug her at times, the love she had for Alex was so incredibly beautiful, a true testament of what soulmates are supposed to be. Her grieve and other situations going on became debilitating at one point, and the TEAM hires her a nursing assistant. Good (and very bossy,) Shelby Sullivan, is assigned to take care of Kelsey. The last thing she imagines is the big adventure ahead of her and the very handsome man assigned to keep Kelsey safe.
I like a book that keeps me guessing, I like a book that makes me think and transport me to a world that I can become a part of, and this is what Mrs. Winters does throughout the whole story. I like that all her male characters are alpha in some respect but they're not over the top, and I love that the female characters are strong and ready to go toe to toe with the guys at any given moment.
The author did a fantastic job keeping the mystery of certain characters and certain situations until the end, there were hints here and there of things to come but no certainty of the outcome on any situation. Although this book is part of a series, this book can easily be read as a standalone. The characters are well developed and the reader knows where they stand with each one of them.
The best part about these guys is that they are a family, they stick together and they will sacrifice anything in order to protect the others. They're two guys that left me guessing what the story was and I'm hoping they are next in this series.
Great job Irish!
