#ReleaseBlitz #Review: More Than Words by Mia Sheridan

Blurb
No one lays open the heart and soul quite like New York Times bestselling author Mia Sheridan.

The moment she met Callen Hayes, eleven-year-old Jessica Creswell knew he was a broken prince. Her prince. They became each other's refuge, a safe and magical place far from their troubled lives. Until the day Callen kissed her--Jessica's first real, dreamy kiss—and then disappeared from her life without a word.

Years later, everyone knows who Callen Hayes is. Famous composer. Infamous bad boy. What no one knows is that Callen's music is now locked deep inside, trapped behind his own inner demons. It's only when he withdraws to France to drink his way through the darkness that Callen stumbles into the one person who makes the music return. Jessica. His Jessie. And she still tastes of fresh, sweet innocence . . . even as she sets his blood on fire.

But they don't belong in each other's worlds anymore. There are too many mistakes. Too many secrets. Too many lies. All they have is that instinctive longing, that need—and something that looks dangerously like love.

#Review
When Mia Sheridan announces that she has a new book coming out, it's without a doubt a moment of joy for me.

More Than Words was captivating from beginning to end. Callen and Jessica's journey was not an easy one, they both had demons that made them not trust others fully, doubt another person's intentions when it came to relationships, it made them doubt their own feelings, look for ways to erase the past while punishing themselves. Callen's story just broke my heart, he was such a sweet little boy when he first met Jessica, but deep inside his father was killing his spirit one word at a time. Jessica seemed to have it all, contrary to Callen, she had a mom and dad at home, a good life looking from the outside in, but appearances sometimes don't really tell the whole truth.

While Callen crossed some bridges that at any other point would be things that I don't like to read about, the author did a great job not excusing his behavior but explaining why he felt the need to act the way he did. I loved Jessica, she loved Callen with all she had, but she was strong enough to put herself first when the time came to choose between respecting herself and her love for her childhood friend. I admire that on a heroine.

I believe there's a lesson to be learned in every Mia Sheridan's book and this was not the exception. I think we as human beings need to learn not to be too hard on ourselves, we all make mistakes but we need to learn from them and take the lesson to make us a better person. I think Callen's biggest lesson was that no matter what we did in our past, we are all are worthy of redemption and a happy life, to be loved without judgement or barriers.

"...life was more than words. It was laughter and love, faith and joy. And mostly, it was the deep peace that came from living life fiercely and without regret."

Ms. Sheridan has done it again. Beautiful and savvy words to live by wrapped up in a touching story with imperfectly perfect characters.
