 Blurb

Through the haze of vodka and self-loathing, Hazel Roundtree saw the poor creature lying in a ditch.

One brown eye. One blue.
Covered in mud and crying from pain, the puppy was desperately trying to free itself from a hopeless situation.

She almost kept walking by. She had her own problems and besides… no one had ever stopped to help her.

Who we’re ultimately meant to be is a journey without end, but there’s always a defined start…

Hazel had no idea the dog would be her beginning, her second chance, the miracle she never saw coming. She named him Atticus. He grew up to be a very bad—and completely awesome—dog.

A heart-warming and deliciously funny story about the world’s worst behaved dog and how he taught his human how to love again. Atticus will take the reader on a wild romp of mischievous misadventures in search of a much needed happily ever after.

Review

Sometimes you find a real life gem hidden in the form of a book. Atticus is this gem.

At times life throw curve balls at us, and for a moment in time we feel hopeless, alone and completely lost. And just when you think there's no way out, life also throws lifesavers at us to let us know that things don't stay the same for long and that we haven't yet reach our highest potential. In Hazel's case, Atticus becomes that lifesaver, the one that gives her back her hope and helps her live again.

I loved Hazel and Atticus' journey, and as much as they became friends of sorts to me throughout the book, it is worth to mention two other characters that absolutely stole my heart, Oley and Bernard. This is a book where every character is an important part of the story, every single one of them become an important part in Hazel and Atticus lives.

Bennett wrote a story that is heartbreakingly beautiful, but also full of laughs and so much soul. Without a doubt one of this author's better works to date.
