Hailed by Jami Davenport as her “go-to author for hockey romance,” the bestselling author of the Heller Brothers Hockey series sets the ice ablaze with another sexy novel featuring the gorgeous men of the Chicago Aces.
Duncan Armstrong may be an NHL star, but he’s a country boy at heart. His ultimate fantasy is going home with the Stanley Cup, not a gold-digging airhead who aspires to be a trophy wife and nothing more. Newly single and hoping to enjoy a night out with his teammates, he ends up hitting it off with a down-to-earth waitress who’s a complete breath of fresh air—until Duncan learns that she’s a part-time model. He tries to forget about her, but their sizzling chemistry has him coming back for more.
Amber is working hard to put herself through school, and has zero interest in dating a professional athlete. She’s seen firsthand how fame and fortune can mess with their heads—her father’s brilliant football career ended in a firestorm of addiction and infidelity. So Duncan’s attentions immediately have her on the defensive. Still, there’s something different about him. And once she stops trying to freeze him out, irresistible temptation turns into all-consuming passion.

Review
Duncan dreams with winning that desirable Stanley Cup one day, in the meantime he keeps playing hockey and going out with the wrong girls, most of them models, most of them gold diggers. After yet another break up, he swears of off models and dating, but little did he know that a trip to his favorite bar with his teammates was going to put a kink on his plans.
Amber is working hard not only to put herself through school but to help her mother financially. After her parents very public divorce and her father's affairs and financial scandals she knows too well that being with an athlete can be a tricky situation, so she wants nothing to do with them.
Duncan and Amber meet and sparks fly, they have chemistry, they connect, and little by little they start seeing that they are different from the people they met before. The thing is, they still carry insecurities from past relationships and family situations, will those insecurities prevent their relationship to move forward?
Duncan is a charmer, he's sweet, a bit alpha, but above all he's real, he hasn't let the fame and recognition that come with being a hockey player take the farm boy that lives inside of him. Amber is strong, hard worker and a bit stubborn, but given the experiences she went through with her parents I would feel the same way. The story was easy to follow and I truly enjoyed the push and pull between Duncan and Amber.
The author also give us a glimpse of what the other characters in the series have been up to.
You really can't go wrong with a Kelly Jamieson book, especially a hockey one. This is the second book of this series but each book can be read as a standalone.
