Review Tour Tour: Hawke by Sawyer Bennett

Title: Hawke (Cold Fury, Book #5)
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: March 15, 2016

The New York Times bestselling hockey series featuring the Carolina Cold Fury continues as the team’s most notorious party animal gets blindsided by the one that got away. Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn’t he? He’s worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She’s almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later—except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut. Vale Campbell isn’t the same girl she was at twenty. As crazy as she was about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking were starting to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that would never happen with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do—until now. Because she’s still crazy about Hawke. And if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.

Another fantastic addition to the Cold Fury family. Hawke is full of heartbreak, forgiveness, love and second chances.
Seven years ago Vale broke Hawke's heart and set him free without much of an explanation. He left his hometown to pursue his NHL dreams with a heavy heart and wondering what went wrong.
But when two people are meant to be together, life has a way of reuniting them. So here they are again, after years of not seeing each other they are guided back into each other's lives. It's definitely not an easy reunion, but little by little they both get their grove back and their insanely hot chemistry overtakes any other feelings they might have.
What I loved most about this book is that the author brought a real believable human touch to the story. Real situations that we as human beings deal with on pretty much a daily basis, lack of communication with those around us, illness of a parent and the desire to do whatever it takes to make it all better for them, insecurities when it comes to the other person in the relationship, and the decisions we sometimes make to protect those we love.
Once again we get strong main characters who take us on an intense, emotional journey. We get a chance to see what the other guys and their significant others have been up to. And although Hawke and Vale have to go through relationship hell before they're back on the same page, in the end the heart prevails, forgiveness happen, and love wins.
