Spotlight #review: For the Love of Raindrops by Beth Michele

Synopsis

A Best Friends to Lovers Story...

I fell in love with her when I was just a boy.

And then I never fell out of love. I just fell deeper.

But she has everything. She is everything. And I have nothing to offer her. Except my heart.

Sometimes the guy gets the girl, and they live happily ever after. I wanted to be that guy, you know? Especially since I can't imagine ever loving anyone else.

Right after I work up the courage to tell her, my world gets torn apart. My dream becomes my worst nightmare.

I wish I could go back in time. I wish I had told her sooner.

But most of all...I wish it would rain again.

This novel spans Coming of Age, Young Adult, and New Adult genres. A full-length Standalone novel that does contain mature language and some sexual situations, and may also contain some potential emotional triggers.

Review

Dylan and Evie have been best friends since they were kids. They found comfort in each other through the hardest moments in their young lives and have been a comfort and confidant to each other. One thing Dylan is completely sure of and Evie has been in denial of is that they love each other.
And even though their love is strong, is not enough to erase Dylan's insecurities and how he sees himself thanks to his drunk of a father, or make Evie's fears of losing the ones she has in her life due to the loss she suffered a few years back. But love is also a powerful thing and when two souls are meant to be, there is nothing that will stand in their way.
This is an incredibly sweet story. The way Beth builds the friendship to lovers journey is breathtakingly beautiful. Both Dylan and Evie have their moments of doubts and set backs while working on the courage to come out clean with their feelings towards each other, but these are young adults who are still trying to figure out the paths of life.
The fluidity of the story will make you read for hours not realizing how much time has passed, and the amazing cast of characters will bring you to tears, make you laugh, and bring you to your knees with the love and respect they have for each other, secondary characters complementing the main ones perfectly.
Every word that was used to create a sentence, a paragraph, is like a skillful dancer choreographing a stunning dance. The words pull at your heartstrings and you feel the character's pain as well as their joy. There's a rawness in their story, an innocence that you don't find very often these days.
This is the kind of story that stays with you for day and makes it hard to get into another book. Beth Michele will tear your heart apart but slowly and sweetly will put it back together.
Highly recommended!!!
