I
shifted my eyes to a silent and pensive Maddie who was sitting on her bed, her
arms wrapped around her curled-up legs as I paced the dark hardwood floor. I
continued. “Where is Mae? I must speak with her at
once!”
Maddie
sighed in exasperation and gazed longingly out of the single window of our
small apartment—the one we never ever
left apart from to go to do our daily prayers by the river, escorted by Mae.
Styx’s
apartment was above this so-called “biker
club”
in
which we were incarcerated, The Hades Hangmen, whatever on Earth that was.
What
I did know was it was a living hell in which we had been forced to exist after
being ripped from our home, ripped from all we knew: the commune. The Order.
The Lord’s
Prophet. We belonged with God’s Chosen Ones. It was
the only way to claim our salvation from being born of the devil, born as
sinful seductresses. Instead, we had been plucked from our people and dropped
into this den of evil. We did not know what had happened to our people, after
these so-called Hangmen had fired on our brothers and sisters. They killed our
prophet! All this just a few short weeks ago.
I
hate it here. Hated every single thing about it:
the daily sinful acts of debauchery taking place downstairs in that louche bar,
the violence I witnessed, the guns, and especially the men. Especially…
him.
Ky. The Hades Hangmen whore. The man who grinned at me whenever in my
presence, licking his lips in that absurdly salacious way.
He
made my skin shiver. He might be beautiful on the outside, all long blond hair
and crystal-blue eyes, but he had a corrupted soul.
He
cannot be trusted… None
of them could be trusted.

This is the second book in the Hades Hangmen Series and is about our beloved bad boy Ky and the ever innocent Delilah.
Ky is the VP of the Hangmen and was taught from an early age that women were good for one thing and one thing only and after that just let 'em go. He has put this belief to use more times than not and never wanted to keep a woman around for love or kindness until he laid eyes on the beautiful Delilah. From that very first glimpse, he wanted her and knew that as innocent as she was, she would never want a man like him.
Delilah has spent her life in a very religious sect and knows that her looks are a curse and for that reason she prefers to avoid men at all cost. Since being rescued she has hidden out in a room to avoid being forcefully taken and receiving punishments. The Hades hangmen to her are the devil themselves and there is no way anyone could convince her otherwise.
These two come together after the prez, Styx, ask Ky to teach Lilah about the outside world. Ky hates the idea at first as he knows that being around Lilah will only make him want her more. Lilah really doesn't want anything to do with Ky because he makes her feel things no man ever has, and in her world it is a sin to have these feelings.
The relationship between these two characters will grab your attention and hold you tight and not allowing you to put the book down until you have read the last word. I got the reasoning behind Ky and made me love this man even more. The way he takes care of Lilah is both hot alpha and tender. Lilah breaks my heart on more than one occasion as I can't imagine finding out what has been drilled into your head has basically been nothing but lies after lie. And then something big happened and I cried until my eyes were swollen. Those scenes were wrote with so much emotion that it makes you feel like you are right there in the mix of all the chaos, wanting to just reach out and hold this precious woman and take the hurt away.
The ending was perfectly written and upon reading the last word all I could do was say, DAMN, Tillie did it again! And that my dear ladies is she knocked a 5 star rated book out the park and made me crave more of her writing. It takes an epic writer to grab her readers every time the way she does, and Tillie Cole never fails to astonish me with her capabilities.
5 stars all the way and anxiously awaiting the next installment, which, is about my man Flame ;-)
I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a great combination of both love, MC action, and the angst that comes from tugging at your heart strings.
