Review
Gavin Cooke is a brilliant writer stuck in a dark place. The event that brought him there is one that would bring the strongest man to his knees. In order to help him finish his latest book, and perhaps with the hopes of take him away from the vices that were consuming him, his publicist sends him to North Carolina.
It's there where he meets Savannah Shepherd. She's a very talented wildlife photographer, but with no prospects in sight she's working odd jobs to make ends meet.
Gavin and Savannah are two completely opposites, but little by little Savannah becomes the light that Gavin needs to bring him out of the darkness and to make him live and feel again.
Gavin is not a likeable character at the beginning, he's an ass and a hard pill to swallow, but all that changed for me when I learned what he went through. I could feel his pain and the absolute devastation he was feeling while telling his story. Even though I know some people are going to judge Savannah and her decisions throughout the story, I found her a very strong character. And let's be real for a minute, we can criticize all we want, but in the end, we don't know what we are capable of until we see ourselves in a specific situation.

This is a book full of strong and conflicted emotions. This is a book with soul, and that's what Sawyer Bennett is all about. This series keeps getting better and I can't wait to see what and who's next.
Another great book Sawyer!

  1. Reading "Sugar on the Edge" felt like taking a rescue dog from a shelter—seeing a rough exterior transform into a loving companion. Gavin's journey from darkness to light with Savannah's help is heartwarming. Sawyer Bennett’s characters, much like a dog’s loyalty, show us that love and patience can heal even the deepest wounds.
