Synopsis

It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought… Until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man crouched down and looking at me like he wanted to eat me alive, was none other than my ex, Gray Westbrook. A man who I’d only just begun to move on from. A man who my heart despised—yet my body obviously still had other ideas about. A man who was as charismatic and confident as he was sexy. Somehow, I managed to make it through my presentation ignoring his intense stare. Although it was impossible to ignore all the dirty things he whispered into my ear right after I was done. But there was no way I was giving him another chance, especially now that he was a client…was there?

Review

One thing you can count on when you read a book by Vi Keeland is the originality of the story, the twists and turns she throws at us. While she's not one to add too much or unnecessary angst to a book, there's always a little question in the back of my mind, what is what's going to happen next?

The Naked Truth starts with the sassy banter and sensual energy we are accustomed to see from Vi, but that is where the similarities stop with her previous books. I love characters with substance, with a life journey that's going to make me feel for them, root for them, in this case Grayson Westbrook has plenty of that. He comes out as a cocky guy trying to win his ex, Layla Hutton, back but getting to know him is getting to have strong feelings of love, empathy and knowing that the guy is as beautiful on the outside as he is on the inside. I loved his sense of family and how he protected not only Layla but Etta, the appreciation and pure adoration he had for them. Layla is brilliant, beautiful, confident and loves what she does as well as the people she gets in her circle, she's loyal above all. But as their relationship progresses secrets come to the surface, secrets that could make or break their connection.

This story was brilliant really. As I said before the originality of it all leaves the reader gasping for air and wondering if the things that are happening are true or if it's just another plot against Layla and Grayson. While this book has a very touching and somewhat maddening story, for me the main message of the book is forgiveness. Forgiveness to those who wronged us in order to set our soul free and start living the life we were meant to all along.
