I have read a lot of this author's books, and although I have loved them
all, I don't think any has hit me as hard as this one. I was an emotional
wreck through this book and some of the things that were revealed shocked me because I never expects the twist and turns. This was a phenomenal book from
start to finish and I think you may be teary eyed from time to time. I
know I was.
Bruno is the perfect male lead in this book, from the first page you have an idea of what this man is about. Mysterious, alpha, hard core badass, and above and beyond anything else, the most awesome male specimen I have read about. He is known as the Butcher and is in constant fear for his family, never planning on having a serious relationship. That is until a wonderful woman waltzes into his life and things change for him in all the right ways. Then the cold light of day brings about a change he didn't expect so he does the only thing he knows to do, lay in wait.
Callie is the strongest female lead I have read about. Her strength and courage grows with the turn of every page. But sometimes life throws you a curve ball you never expected, and you only have two choices. Lay down and let it win or come out fighting.
She doesn't know what to do, but she does know this man known as the Butcher isn't the man for her. His reputation precedes him, but she can't help but feel attracted to him, although she knows that she can never act on her feelings.
When these two come together under the circumstances they do, my heart felt a huge wrench in it. In a good way, and that feeling was there until the bitter end.
When the story unfolds the strength and tenderness Bruno has for Callie was uplifting, it stole my breath. And when you think he can't be dreamier he proves you wrong.
The ending of this book brought about the biggest smile I have had while reading a story. I was sad, with a real book hangover, so I went right back to the beginning and re read it.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I definitely would. Five stars doesn't do it justice
