1. Why write romance? Do you have any other genres you would like to try writing? Any that you wouldn’t even think of?
Romance was a natural choice for me since it was my favorite genre of book to read. Also, I don't think my mind is twisted enough for dark thrillers I also like reading. It's ironic I chose romance because I'm sort of an unromantic person in real life. Or maybe I'm just a "closet romantic".
I do want to try romantic comedy because I think I'd be good at that. I'm also going to do some romantic suspense next year in my Sugar Bowl series coming out with Random House/Loveswept.
2. Does your mom/family read your books? What are the reactions, specially to the more spicy scenes?
My family does read my books and they are very proud of me. We don't talk about the spicy scenes, but honestly... those are just a small part of the book. Don't get me wrong, what I throw in I try to melt Kindles with, but I think my family appreciates that looking past the sex scenes, I write complex characters with solid plots that are entertaining to readers. I think that's what my family really appreciates.
3. How long on average does it take you to write a book?
In the early days of writing, I could write a book in a solid rough draft form in about 10-14 days. I've slowed down a bit as I've become a mother and cut my hours back, but I can usually get one done if I'm under pressure in that same time. Without pressure though, I sort of dawdle and it can take me 30 days to write one now.
4. How hard was it to publish your first book? Did anyone guide you through the process?
I found it very easy to self publish. I took an amazing online course about self publishing and had a few authors that let me pick their brains about the process. It's one of the things that sets the Indie community of authors apart; they're willingness to help and support.
5. From all your books what character has been the more difficult and why? The easiest and why?
Most of my characters have been pretty easy to write. My books are very character driven; I let them speak to me and direct the story. What I might have thought would be the way a book will go will often turn 180 degrees in a different direction because a character tells me to go there. However, there have been a few that I wasn't sure which way to take them. Two men that come to mind are Alex and Zack from the Cold Fury, as they had some "issues" to work through. As for a woman, the toughest in my opinion was Casey from Shaken, Not Stirred. She had issues too!!! Luckily, Tenn was enough of a man to get her through them!
6. All time favorite book? Quote? Movie?

I think Uncivilized would make a good movie or TV series. And since I don't know much about the Hollywood actors out there now due to letting my People magazine subscription lapse, I'll have to go with my favorite... Chris Hemsworth for Zach. Oooohhh... and maybe Julia Roberts for Moira with the red hair and all, but she's significantly older so maybe the plot line could be developed to add in a cougar element????
