#ExcerptReveal: Gentleman Nine by Penelope Ward

 Blurb

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.   Growing up, the three of us were friends. He was the nerd. I was the playboy. She was the beauty.   Deep down, I only ever wanted her. I kept it inside because Rory and I made a pact that our friend, Amber, was off-limits. He lied.   I went off to college, and he got the girl. Amber never knew how I felt. They were together for years—before he broke her heart.   Through it all and across the miles, she and I casually stayed in touch. When my job sent me to Boston for a three-month contract position, Amber let me stay in her spare room.   Still reeling from her breakup, she’d sworn off men. One night, I opened her computer to find the shock of my life. She’d hesitantly contacted a male escort company. Afraid to date and get her heart broken again, she was looking for sex with no strings. Every emotion imaginable ran through me: protectiveness, jealousy—curiosity. Amber had chosen Gentleman Number Nine and sent him a message. She opened up to him, confessing, among other things, her physical attraction to her friend— me. But she considered me off-limits—and she thought I was a manwhore. (Ironic, considering the circumstances.) Eventually, she set up a date to meet Gentleman Nine at a hotel. When she showed up several nights later to meet him, she got the surprise of her life to see me standing there—with an offer I hoped she wouldn’t refuse.

 EXCERPT

G9, Is that what your friends call you? I like that. Thanks for the answers. That’s an interesting question—why tonight of all nights? Well, I saw my ex tagged on Facebook with another woman, and that put me over the edge. But it’s more than that. Lately, I’ve developed a strong attraction to a good friend of mine, and that’s sort of screwing with me a bit. He’s actually temporarily living in my condo, but he’s someone I’ve known for years. I’ve always thought he was extremely handsome, but it’s complicated. He and I would not be a good match romantically. He’s not the monogamous type, or at least, he never used to be. We’re better off as friends. He was also the best friend of my ex years back, so there’s that. Having him around, though, has made me more sensitized to my sexual desires. Little things like the waft of his scent, the way he touches the small of my back when he passes by me in the kitchen…it’s like my body is on this constant state of alert. So, I was thinking if I could just—for lack of a better word—get laid, maybe I could get this feeling out of my system. Amber   My jaw was open as I just sat there staring at the screen. Holy shit. I read it again. And again. And again. I honestly didn’t think that Amber felt that way about me. She would always make jokes about me being good-looking, but her attraction to Rory proved that her taste wasn’t exactly conventional. Now, I really felt like shit for invading her privacy, because there was no way she would’ve been okay with confessing that to me. I never imagined any of this had to do with me. I’d assumed it was solely about Rory. She wanted to use another man to f*ck me out of her system? That revelation left me shocked and confused—not to mention hard as f*ck thinking about the fact that Amber wanted me.

Happy.

Review

Melanie Moreland's men always have those qualities that makes them hard to forget. Bentley is not the exception.

With the help of his two best friends since college, Bentley has been running a business that has secured him financially. While his professional life is on the raise every day, he begins to notice that he's missing something in his personal life. When he crosses paths with a sweet, smart and attractive student by the name of Emmy, she starts realizing that there is more to life than the office and business transactions.

I adored the coupling of Bentley and Emmy, from the very beginning you feel the magic between these two characters. Her sense of humor and easy going personality make Emmy my type of heroine. Little by little she shows Bently to relax and enjoy life a little more, and he helps her realize that money is worth nothing unless you have someone to share it and enjoy it with. They really are a perfect pairing. But while these two embark in a sweet relationship, there are forces behind them trying to not only separate them but ruin Bentley's pride and joy, his business.

Moreland does an excellent job developing her characters as well as a well crafted storyline. Not only is Bentley charming but his two best friends complement him just the right way. Aiden and Maddox add a little humor and a lot of sexy into this story.

Sexy, romantic with a little angst mixed in between make Bentley a perfect book that would have you enthralled from beginning to end.

#BlogTour #Review: Icing on the Cake by Ann Marie Walker

 Icing on the Cake

by Ann Marie Walker
Publication Date: January 30, 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Purchase

Notting Hill meets The Prince & Me in Icing on the Cake, the second standalone laugh-out-loud romance in Ann Marie Walker’s Wild Wedding series
Cassandra Miller doesn’t have time for men. She’s far too busy trying to open a cupcake shop with her silent partner and best friend, not to mention catering her brother’s wedding. And let’s face it, it’s not like Prince Charming is going to stroll into the bakery and sweep her off her feet.
Henry has been a prince his entire life but for one wild wedding he wants to be nothing more than an “Average Joe”, or in this instance, “Average Hank”. However, when a case of mistaken identity and a batch of burned cupcakes ends in a night of passion, Cassie and Hank must decide if theirs is a recipe for disaster or the makings of true romance.

 Review

First of all, let me tell you that I not necessarily like books that have that insta love thing between the main characters. That said,  the way the author writes Cassie and Hank's first encounter and subsequent relationship completely worked for me.

I loved Cassie from the get go, she's a breath of fresh air. She's hard working, sweet, and she has a certain naivete about her. Hank is in need of a normal life, a woman who sees him for who he is on the inside instead of his position in the world. There's no doubt that Cassie and Hank hit it off and they are what the other needs, they worked for me because they are two relatable characters (yes, even when he really belongs to a monarchy, he gives us a very human, very real side of him.)

It was a delight to see some of the characters from the first book interact with Cassie and Hank. The secondary characters infused a touch of humor to an all ready pretty perfect story, specially Olivia.

While I thoroughly enjoyed, the book, it left me wanting a bit more at the end. I was hoping that we would've seen more or the what happens after. I'm not giving many details away because despite my opinion, this is a book worth reading. Sweet, romantic, sexy and all around highly delectable, Icing on the Cake is one story you need to read.

Reed (Cold Fury, Book #10)

Sawyer Bennett

Release Date: February 6, 2018

Synopsis

Hockey season may be over, but in New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett’s new novel, a Carolina Cold Fury heartbreaker is heating things up off the ice and eager to score with the girl next door. No one skates like Reed Olson. In the off-season, no one plays like him either. After back-to-back championships, Reed craves a different kind of action. Good thing there’s no shortage of women ready for a summer fling with a sports star. Reed has a specific type—blond, busty, not too bright—and a little black book full of options. But when his bed starts rocking, it’s his unexpectedly sexy neighbor who comes knocking. And the brainy beauty is impossible to ignore. Josie Ives desperately needs something her celebrity neighbor obviously doesn’t: sleep. His headboard banging against the wall is keeping her up at night—not to mention inspiring some very naughty dreams. Reed is everything she imagined: a little too good-looking, with a body that puts Greek gods to shame. But he’s also funny and charming—a tempting combination. Josie’s the opposite of his type, yet the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their friendship certainly has its benefits, and it’s heating up to be so much more.

Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.

Some men are troublemakers or dealmakers. The men in my family? We’re baby makers.

For six generations, the women of wine country have had a saying: don’t bang a Hunter man unless you want a bun in your oven.

Yeah, well. I’ve got a saying too: no thanks. The last thing I need is baby makes three. My business is expanding and the only thing I’m interested in getting knocked up is my bottom line.

When I hear women have gotten pregnant shaking hands with Hunter men, I know I need Dylan Hunter’s…ahem, special skills…way more than I need to expand my vineyard.

Review

If a sexy, light hearted story is what you're looking for this book is for you.

Like all of Lili's books, the writing is superb and she has a way of getting the reader involved in the story that is easy to get lost in her characters for hours on end.
Dylan is a likable guy, trying to get his family business going after a few set backs. The poor guy is pretty much a workaholic without much time for a social life. But when then the neighbor next door happens he has to decide if giving her what she wants is worth getting what he needs.

The story is pretty cute and has its hot moments happening between Dylan and Emma, as well as some good supporting cast who brought in some funny moments to the storyline. And while I enjoyed the story, my problem with it was that Emma came across as a bit too desperate and Dylan, well let's just say that one of his conditions to make the deal with Emma was kind of douchy in my opinion.

This is a quick read full of sensuality and lots of heart.

He was an artist. She was his muse.

To everyone in town, Abel Adams was the devil's spawn, a boy who never should have been born. A monster.

To twelve year-old Evie Hart, he was just a boy with golden hair, soft t-shirts and a camera. A boy who loved taking her picture and sneaking her chocolates before dinner. A boy who made her feel special.

Despite her family's warnings, she loved him in secret for six years. They met in empty classrooms and kissed in darkened church closets. Until they couldn't.

Until the time came to choose between love and family, and Evie chose Abel.

Because their love was worth the risk. Their love was the stuff of legend.

But the thing about legends is that they are cautionary tales. They are made of choices and mistakes. And for Abel and Evie, the artist and the muse, those mistakes come in the form of lights, camera, sex.

NOTE: This is NOT a paranormal or a priest romance.

Excerpt

Abel drops his head on my shoulder with a sigh and places soft but wet kisses on my collarbone.
“The minute you turn eighteen, I’m picking you up, throwing you over my shoulder and driving you down to the nearest courthouse so you can say I do,” he rumbles, still kissing me, tattooing those words on my skin.
My hands bury themselves in his hair as my back arches toward him, craving the rough terrain of his chest against my soft, rounded breasts, shooting sparks all over.
“You haven’t even asked me n-nicely, yet,” I whimper, baring my throat to his exploring mouth. He hasn’t. It’s been over a year since he brought it up at the treehouse and I told him no. Since then, he likes to joke about it but he’s yet to ask me formally.
“I don’t have to. I already know the answer.”
“A little too cocky, aren’t you?”
“Oh yeah, that’s definitely what I am.” He chuckles, sucking in the skin of my neck, making me shiver and blush. Oops. Double entendre.
The way he’s tugging on my skin is translating into a melty tugging down below. “Abel, no. That’s gonna leave a mark.”
He growls and looks up. The brown of his eyes is completely gone, a drop of honey drowned by a black lake of desire. “One day I’m gonna kiss you in the front of the whole world and if they don’t like it then fuck them.”
I read the frustration in his tone, the suppressed anger, and it hurts my heart. No one should be made to hide their love. No one. It’s too pure, too beautiful to ever keep hidden. I caress his pulsing jaw. “Okay. Kiss me at our wedding, then. In front of the whole world.”
A slow smile spreads over his lips and I want to fill my mouth with it. “So, you saying yes?”
I shake my head at him and give him a smirk. “Maybe.”
He plants a hard kiss on my mouth. “Kidnapping you it is, then.”
“Oh my God, you’re crazy.” I laugh.
But he swallows it up with his mouth. He’s kissing me, really kissing me. Like, he’s lost all patience with me and he can’t be a good guy anymore. He needs to be bad. He needs to suck both my lips into his mouth and drink my flavor straight from the tap. He needs to bite into my flesh to get to it, dig his way inside the pores and fuse us together.

Author Bio

Writer of bad romances. Aspiring Lana Del Rey of the Book World.

Saffron is a big believer in love (obviously). She believes in happily ever after, the butterflies and the tingling. But she also believes in edgy, rough and gutsy kind of love. She believes in pushing the boundaries, darker (sometimes morally ambiguous) emotions and imperfections.

The kind of love she writes about is flawed just like her characters. And she hopes by the end of it, you’ll come to root for them just as much as she does. Because love, no matter where it comes from, is always pure and beautiful.

She is represented by Meire Dias of Bookcase Agency
