#ReleaseBlitz #Review: Stiffed by Joanne Schwehm

Blurb

***STANDALONE NOVEL***

She is the one. I knew it then, and I know it now.

It has been ten years since I first laid eyes on her, ten years since I’ve held her, ten years since I’ve been inside of her . . . and ten years since I broke her heart.

Now she’s back. And when I look into the eyes of my first and only love, I know she is the one for me. She is still the most beautiful woman, and she can still make my body come alive with just a glance.

If I feel this way, she must too . . . right? Wrong. According to her, the past is the past. Her life doesn’t consist of second chances, just the here and now. But guess what? I’m here, and it’s now. We aren’t meant to be apart—that was my mistake, and I will do whatever it takes to make her mine again.

She forgets I know what makes her blush. She forgets I know how to make her laugh and how to give her immense pleasure—but I am determined to remind her.

And once I do, I will never let her go again.

 Review
I love this series and this new installment does not disappoint.

Sometimes when we're young we make decisions that we live to regret a few years down the line, this was the case with Jack Prescott. He let go of the woman he loved and now that she's back in his life, he'll do anything to show her, not only that he loves her dearly, but the future they can have. April Johnson has always know that Jack was the love of her life, but circumstances in life may prevent them for having their happy ending. I loved the way Jack showed how much he cared for April, he was tender, caring, and above all supportive and respectful of her feelings. I understood April views and I probably would've felt the same way if that was me.

I have to say Ms. Schwehm took me on a path that I never suspected, but loved it. It was different and it deals with issues that are very important for a human being. The way she presented their relationship was realistic and like life full of ups and downs. One lesson prevailed after I was done reading this book, sometimes we have to take the bull by the horns and just ride it the best way we can enjoying every single second.

Stiffed is a second chance story and has everything that a lover of contemporary romance looks for, a swoony hero who is successful and know what he wants and a heroine who is strong and secure of herself without losing who she is. Highly recommended!

Excerpt

Striding up to her, I placed my hand on the door. With her back up against the six-paneled wood, she attempted to look away. Using my index finger, I put it on her chin, urging her to look at me. What I needed to say needed to be done while we were face-to-face. I brought my body closer to hers—so close that my scruff brushed up against her soft cheek. The freckles adorning the bridge of her nose came into view, and my entire body came alive at the mere grazing of our skin.

“You want me to forget everything?” She nodded slowly. “Do you mean to tell me if I kissed you right now… fused our mouths together, my tongue skimming yours, you wouldn’t remember how good we were together?” My body thrummed with excitement at the thought of tasting her again. “That the feelings you once had for me, that I still have for you, wouldn’t come rushing back like a tidal wave?”
Pools of hazel swam with an undertone of desire. “Has any other man made your body come alive with a single touch?” I cupped her cheek, and on what I’d like to assume was instinct, she leaned into my hand. Dropping my voice an octave, I whispered in her ear, “Has anyone made you feel the same way I did when I was buried deep inside you? Did you call out their name like you did mine when you had an orgasm?”
She gasped. I pulled back, and once again locked our eyes. The pulse in her neck beat strong and fast under the pads of my fingers. “Do you think of me when you’re with other men? When you’re with Alan?” Her black lashes lowered, but I didn’t let that dissuade me. “Look at me, April. Tell me… have you really forgotten about how good we were together? How when I’d take off my shirt, you couldn’t stop your hands from roaming up and down my body? How when you’d take off yours, your breasts would swell, and your nipples would harden?” I glanced down at her chest. Her breaths were shallow—labored. I smugly grinned. “Much like they are now. Or when I pulled them into my mouth—” She sucked in a clipped lungful of air. “And you’d moan in pleasure? Believe me, I haven’t forgotten any of it.”
Her eyes clouded over with yearning when I licked my lips. “I’m curious… do you really want me to forget about the past? Forget how much we loved each other? For me to not remember how you trembled when I kissed you?” My lips came so close to hers I almost lost control. “To forget how when you’re confused these three little lines form between your eyes?” I let my thumb graze over the tense spot to prove my point. Her tongue poked through the seam of her lips. God, how I wanted to taste her, to claim her mouth once again. “Say it, April. Tell me you don’t feel the same way, and I’ll leave you alone.”
After a few seconds of hesitation that felt more like an hour, her voice trembled as she said, “I’m sorry.”
“I didn’t ask for an apology. I asked if you felt the same way. Go ahead. You can tell me. Tell me you’re content.”
“Jealousy doesn’t look good on you, Jack.”
“Jealous? You think I’m jealous of another man?” She arched a brow. I raked my hand through my hair. “The only thing I’m jealous of right now is your panties, because they get to touch what’s mine.”
