Synopsis
Leila Marino’s biggest dream is to become a rock star. A lucky
opportunity has her auditioning with an up & coming rock band named
Devil’s Lair. The band hires Leila as their back-up singer, signing her
up for months in the studio and touring on the road with the sexy bunch.

She has a regular singing gig with a band who has become like a second family to her, but singing with The Cliffhangers is not enough for her anymore. One night a complete stranger approaches her and invites her to audition for an up and coming band, and without looking back Leila goes to her audition.
Jack Lair is the leader of the band Leila auditions for. He takes his career and his band mates very seriously and is loyal to them ‘til the end, but when he comes to his personal life, he’s a bit of a ladies man. That is, until he meets Leila and he starts realizing that maybe his man whore ways are not enough anymore. Leila and Jack become friends but afraid that a personal relationship will ruin their professional one, they remain friends and do what’s best for the band. Eventually they get together as a couple and their chemistry is undeniable.
Secondary characters are as well written as the main characters and it helps the story with the human touch as well as the secondary story lines. I like the fact that the relationship between Leila and Jack develops over time and that the author took time to build the characters and give us some background history. It might seem like a bit slow or a read at the beginning for certain people but I thought that she did a good job introducing us to the characters and helping us understand them better. Another thing I liked is that the book is written in dual POV’s which give us a better insight on both characters’ lives. Just know that we are left with a little bit of a cliffhanger, nothing that’s going to kill you but interesting enough that you’ll want to pick that second book when it comes out ;-) The story is well written and flows smoothly. All and all, a solid debut book for A.M. Madden. Recommended!!!!
