Synopsis
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.
It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.
When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.
You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn't where we ended up.
It’s how we got there.

TAMED goes
back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew
dishing out the advice and opinions—it’s his best friend Matthew, who of
course is dealing with Dee Dee.

Dee defends a horrible chick flick suggestion. “I like best
friend movies—they’re very empowering. Thelma and Louise, Beaches, Steel
Magnolias—that one’s my favorite. I always imagine me and Kate like Ouiser and
Clairee when we’re old.”
“What’s a Steel Magnolia? More importantly, what the fuck is
a Ouiser?”
She looks simultaneously surprised and appalled. “You’ve
never seen Steel Magnolias? Are you even human? It was one of Julia Robert’s
first movies.”
I throw up one hand as I object. “No—no frigging way am I
watching Julia Roberts! Drew went through a whole year of Julia Roberts as a
kid and he still hasn’t recovered. To this day, Pretty Woman quotes come flying
out of his mouth uncontrollably. Not happening.”

Dee wets her lips with her tongue and slides my jeans down
over my hips, freeing my already aching dick. She wraps her small hand around
the base, pumping slowly. “Until you take those photographs of me, and develop
them here, I want you to think about this, the next time you’re in this room.”
Still stroking the base, she covers the tip with her lips,
sucking gently and flicking it with her tongue.
I lean more weight against the door—my knees going weak. She
removes her mouth, peels the foreskin back, and takes me fully in. And I can’t
help but moan. “Fuuuck.”
Her mouth is hot, and wet and so tight, bright dots appear
in the darkness of my closed lids. Slowly she increases the suction of her
mouth, the speed of her rubbing palm—my hand buries in her hair and tightens.
Dee hums around me, and I beg, “Faster . . .”
Review
I just love Emma Chase's books, and I think she has a special touch to write books from a male POV with a touch of humor.
Matthew is a player who enjoys the ladies and loves sex. Him and his best buddy Drew have a lot in common when it comes to being players, but Matthew is waiting for the one to walk into his life and eventually have a family. While it's not fair to compare the two characters, it's almost impossible not to, but I love that Emma made them similar but different at the same time.
Dee's dating history is full of users and abusers, she has a love 'em and leave 'em kind of attitude that worked for her and usually one night stands are good enough to satisfy her, until Matthew comes into her life.
One of the things I loved about this book that there is some sort of role reversal compare to other romance books out there, instead of the guy being the one afraid of relationships and running away is the female character doing the running.
I loved Matthew! He's sweet, understanding, and willing to go the extra mile for Dee. I understood Delores, even though I wanted to smack her at times and make her realize the wonderful guy she was pushing away. Unfortunately the hurt and scars left from some relationships are not that easy to erase.
I adore this little "family" Emma has created with these books. We get to hear not only from Drew, but also from some of the other characters from Tangled and Twisted, including the precocious and always adorable MacKenzie.
We all know that Matthew and Dee end up together but as is stated in the beginning of the book, the journey there is one worth taking a chance for. Emma Chase has another winner with this book, I can't wait to see what else she has in store for these characters.
