Quinn
I’d say I’m down on my luck, but that’s an understatement. I’m flat on my ass. Homeless, hungry and in hiding with my little sister at the age of twenty-one, I’ve never been so desperate. I’ve hit rock bottom when I get an offer I can’t refuse. Sell my body to save my sister? There’s nothing I won’t do to keep her safe. I make the rules and I’m not afraid to defend myself if this rich guy crosses the line. But once I see beneath his cold, calculating façade, the lines aren’t so clear anymore.
Andrew
She’s an intoxicating mix of tough and vulnerable I’ve never known before. This homeless woman who fits right into my upper-class world is running from someone powerful, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. But Quinn isn’t meant to be controlled, so I’m forced to choose between owning her and loving her. I’ve finally met my match, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her truly mine.

Review

This has to be one of my favorite books by Brenda Rothert.

This story captures the reader's attention and won't let go until the final word has been read. Not only is the storyline superb, but the two very strong, compelling characters and the journey that unites their lives pull at your heartstrings and won't let go.

Andrew is a self made millionaire who doesn't have time for relationships and who appears to not even want them. Even though he appears strong he's still keeps the death of his father and the pain that loss left behind close to his heart. The moment he meets Quinn he knows he met his match, she won't obey his rules like all the other women he's been with, she's fierce, something that attracts him about her immediately.

Quinn has to be one of my favorite female characters ever. Her strength, her devotion to her little sister, her selflessness, and her take no prisoners attitude, make her a force to be reckoned with. She has big secrets that she must protect in order to save her sister, in order to save herself, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to keep them buried.

Andrew and Quinn's relationship is a slow, sensual dance, the author gives us a chance to get to know these characters as individuals before they become a couple. Little by little her story starts to reveal itself and I love Andrew's protectiveness, his compassion, and the fact that even when he doesn't know the whole story behind Quinn he doesn't judge her for the decisions she made, on the contrary, it causes great admiration towards her.

Quinn's bravery opened my eyes to some things that us as humans tend to see every day and sometimes ignore. Sometimes we forget that every person out there has a story we know anything about, that we all have a hunger inside of us that keep us fighting for what we think is fair, that the clothes we wear do not represent the type of person we are, that the sacrifices we often make are not always a waste of our lives.  This was simply a heartfelt story, told beautifully through the eyes of two imperfectly, but perfect for each other, characters that would leave you wanting more.
